1. Intro
A lot of my IRL friends were pretty depressed during COVID lockdowns and with all of the insanity going on. I assume that at least some of my social media followers and readers of this blog will be in the same boat. So, I’ve put together a 14 point list of basic stuff that helped me when I was depressed some years ago.
It’s important to note that this world is utterly disgusting and being miserable about that is a perfectly natural reaction. You do not have a “chemical imbalance” in your brain and you do not need to take magical “feel happy” pills. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t do things to feel less miserable about living in a dystopian nightmare.
The list below may seem obvious — most people do this stuff without a second thought — but when your life is a mess you have to actively push yourself to do even the most basic of tasks. It’s important to develop a consistent routine that will eventually become second nature.
2. The list
Do this stuff for a few weeks and you’ll be much happier than if you took SSRIs or some other toxic “medication” for a few months:
1. Write a list of goals
They have to be realistic and achievable. Maybe start by writing this list down. I can’t emphasize enough that these goals have to be ACHIEVABLE. If you are miserably depressed, don’t set yourself the goal of doing a one-hour workout every single day because you’ll just fail and get worse. Instead, start small by doing a few pushups or something and tick that off your checklist as “exercise.” Start small and then work up from there.
2. Don’t be gross: Practice good hygiene
Shower every day; get some natural soap and deodorant, etc.
3. Clean your room
Jordan Peterson is right. Open your windows and throw out all of your unused clutter.
4. Sleep at least 8 hours per day
Get some blue light filtering goggles to wear in the evening.
5. Exercise every day
Do heavy exercise (lifting, etc.) every other day and light exercise (dynamic stretching, etc.) every day.
6. Fix your diet
Eat more protein, good fats, etc., cut out processed garbage, sugar, bad fats, etc.
7. Get enough sun
Take vitamin d supplements if you’re deficient.
8. Disconnect from technology
Take social media breaks. No tech for 1 hour before bed helps with sleep.
9. Spend time in nature
Get out of the towns and cities as often as possible. The rest of the world is still a beautiful place, so appreciate it while you can.
10. Spend time with friends and family
Even simple things, like helping your grandparents with shopping.
11. Try new hobbies (or restart old ones)
Especially social hobbies, like hiking with friends.
12. Cut out drugs and alcohol
There isn’t a drug worth taking but some social situations do require drinking, just don’t make a habit out of it or get shamefully wasted.
13. Stop watching porn
Porn has a terrible impact on mental health, try quitting for one or two weeks at first.
14. Do meditative activities
This doesn’t necessarily mean meditation but can include certain sports, yoga, tai chi, or even just lying on your bedroom floor and chilling out.
Good post. Are there any tips on how to workout at home for someone who doesn’t have a good income or for any hobbies that are cheap to partake in? As someone who is tight on money right now and with little to nothing to do I’m just having trouble what can I do to fill out my time during the day with limited cash at my disposal.

You can try learning some new skills, like photo-video editing, and such. This would be a good hobby.
And for anything else, you can just google it.

Well, the entire internet is full of free hobbies, but maybe take up walking or something like that. If you have a bike then use that to get out into nature then go walk somewhere nice. For working out at home just get hold of some cheap second hand weights from somewhere. You don’t need anything fancy. Ideally you should have dumbbells and a barbell but you can do every major exercise with either. Invest in a doorframe pullup bar too. That’s the only thing I’d spend money on so you’re not getting total junk that will break in no time.

100 pushups, 100 squats, and 100 crunches is a great standard to set yourself too. Append a 1mi/1600m run once you have met that standard. Then work on increasing the total numbers of treps and decreasing the time on your run.
For indoor hobbies, you can start with working on scholastic abilities: learn and practice mathematics (increase the number of digits you can multiply in your head), teach yourself to read faster, etc. You can also pick up computer applications skills like CAD, Photoshop, Blender, etc. Then of course there’s always learning to code.

OK I wrote this before reading on, and see that JMAson and probably a few others suggestions are far more ideal than my own 🙂

Don’t forget Krita for digital art based on physical sketches.

Couldn’t Krita be used to make some concept art for a paracosmos, that may well be to the German Empire, the German Confederation and what could be called Indo-European Folk Religion, what Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film Spirited Away is to Japanese folk religion and ancient Japan?

Start Bodyweight is a decent at-home workout program. You can also get cheap dumbbells and find a dumbbell program online.

Gar , its possible. I do not watch the ‘idiot box’ but will put on an excercise video if its free. for me, the TV is for old unchangeable disc I put in on occasion for nostalgia. frankly I even watch a few excercise vids from the 90s. And keep up best I can. But then I am old school it keeps me sane. I remember the past!
Anyway You can start by getting even a used indoor bike- go to local thrift shops. to find them. some are compact. jog in place – lift cans of soup or water bottles. (if you cant get outdoors but taking a walk of course is ideal) Also, the trends will change. but the basic idea of getting the blood pumping is all the same. So, Nordictracks, treadmills, ellipticals the trends come and go. but its all the same- exerting aerobic energy is the point. I live in a near arctic place, so half the year is no picnic to get fresh air. Unless its above 20F its hard to go outdoors. in that case an indoor bike etc is a good investment. I even read a book doing it. and if and when possible walk outside, or get a bike even 10 or 20 minutes is worth it! I have to push myself frankly to get creative. If you are talking mental stimulation, whatabout an online gathering of folks with an interest in battling the NWO tactics? Its clean, its useful, its social, and can be good for intellectual stimulation. Anyone interested?

Great article. I like to add to that: quit masturbation as a whole or limit it at least to once every 1-2 weeks. It is a huge energy and mood drain for me. Also develop routines (like doing certain things at specific times every day), this will help you feeling accomplishment at the end of the day. A good routine before sleep: quit all technology 1-2 hours before bed, no phone in bed or near bed at night. Pick up a nice book, and read until you feel tired. Bonus points are that you get more knowledgeable and don’t think too much about other stuff circling through your head prior to sleeping.

Hey SP,
I’d really appreciate it if you could go more in-depth regarding SSRIs and elaborate more about their toxicity. I’ve been on these meds since I was a very young child and only recently have I learned that they’re in fact causing a lot of my problems instead of helping them.
I’m in the midst of cutting this garbage out of my system after taking them for most of my life. Every doctor I see wants me to keep taking them and every article I read praises them as a miracle medicine so it’s difficult to find information that advises against their usage as they’re backed by so many outlets.

Excellent advice. Thuletide! I started pilates recently and it has transformed my life. I made a new routine of going early in the morning and I feel ready to tackle on the day when I walk out of the gym. It even gave me motivation to quit my insane job and find a better one.
Love your blog!

Couldn’t making Croftian orgonite, and perhaps painting it or anything else with Elder Futhark runes and other ancient Aryan/Indo-European symbols or Bauernmalerei, be a good idea for a hobby?

Anyway, here are good phrases to consider saying, either three times or as often as anyone feels guided, perhaps every day:
I, as the embodiment of the Cosmic Central Sun, and Galactic Central Sun, say NO to any and all arrangements by the Communist Cacodemon. I, as the embodiment of the Cosmic Central Sun, and Galactic Central Sun, am a free, sovereign being who has free will, and any and all who attempt to violate this free will shall be removed from any and all positions of authority and power.

Here’s another phrase to consider saying:
“As the embodiment of the Cosmic Central Sun, and Galactic Central Sun, I allow only information and frequencies into my mind and body, that are for my best and highest good, that will serve my true self and soul and keep me mentally and physically healthy.”
